Living Wage

We are all feeling the pinch. More likely than not you are not living on minimum wage. Whatever compensation you are getting, my guess is that it is harder than ever to keep up with all the expenses coming your way.

You have heard of the fight for 15. We are beyond the need for a $15 minimum wage and yet still it sets at $7.25.

I propose we tie the federal minimum wage to the MIT Living Wage Calculator set to single adult with no kids. This would be on a county by county basis for the employer and would be reevaluated every year on January 1st.

As an elected representative I would obviously be a yes vote for any measure that raises the minimum wage. My goal, however, is to make it so that the federal minimum remains responsive to changes as well as specific to regional differences.

If someone works full time, they should make enough to meet their needs without you subsidizing them with your tax dollars.
