OVERTURN CITIZENS UNITED

The most important goal of this and any serious campaign for change is overturning the disastrous Citizens United decision. Treating corporate campaign donations and the subsequent dark money contributions to PACs and SuperPACs as protected free speech has brought our representative democracy to its knees. Studies show that voter opinion on an issue is essentially untethered to the eventual outcome of legislation. The interests of the big monied donors on the other hand, direct correlation.

So what do we do?

Step one is take the power away from corporations to make these campaign bribes donations. Some states are already taking this step. Next is Public Financing of elections - equal footing, battle of ideas rather than commercials and bilboards. Finally, passing a Constitutional Ammendment to enshrine those protections beyond the reach of courts and administrations.
