ENERGY INDEPENDENCE FOR OUR GOVERNMENT

Federal buildings have something in common. They all require electricity. You may have noticed at your own home that the expense to keep the lights on just keeps going up and up. We the tax payers are on the hook for the electricity bill no matter how we go about it.

If we were to appropriate the funds to put solar in to power our buildings we would get that money back within 7-10 years. Then it keeps paying us back each year after. If we appropriate these panels for public school buildings that would eliminate the second highest expense behind teacher pay from school budgets. Since both expenses usually come from the general fund, these savings would instantly be available to increase teacher pay and/or hire more teachers.

Finally, if the government makes a huge buy of solar panels this will ultimately drive the price of solar down making it much more cost effective for individual families to make the move themselves
